Special Days

At the beginning of the summer Elizabeth had a special tea party with Grandma B. and all of her American Girl dolls.  Elizabeth looks forward to these tea parties very much, they even made some special doll treats.

We also went to an outdoor concert that one of Grandma B's friends was playing in.  We had a fun picnic, treats, and then the kids had fun dancing to the music.

They are surveying the scene, trying to decide whether they want to get out in front of everyone to dance! :)
They finally made it out there...the dancing came quickly after!  It was a great evening!

Finishing Up

I'm having some major difficulty with blogger!  The pictures all loaded out of order and I am having so much trouble trying to get text in between my photos!  So, I'm just going to explain what they are and hope you can figure it out!  There were many different activities the kids had at the end of the year and I was lucky enough to attend them all!  First, Elizabeth had open house where she showed off some of her work. Next she had field day.  Unfortunately it got rained out the second part of the day, but they had fun while it lasted!  Ben also had his last soccer game and soccer party with all the kids.  He had a great season, he's excited to play again - maybe this fall?!  Lastly Elizabeth participated in a reading bingo program at school.  All the kids who completed the entire program got a tshirt and also attended a party in the library complete with a craft and cupcake.
The kids have loved school but I think are very excited to start our summer - so am I!!

Ben's Field Day

On Ben's last week of school they had a fun field day outside.  He had such a great time!
The scooter is always one of his favorites.

                                                               He played some t-ball,
                                                             and potato sack races.
The day ended with the parachute!

Lastly he got an award from his PE and Music teacher.  Ben had such a wonderful prek year.  He has learned so much! I'm so excited (and nervous!) for him to start kindergarten next year!

Poor Jake and a Birthday Party

Our poor Jake!  About a month ago we noticed him shaking his head quite a bit and when I looked him over everything looked fine.  Then I noticed one of his ears was hanging lower than the other.  When I felt his ear he had a huge "pillow" under the skin.  I guess this happens, especially when dogs get older and they are big, strong dogs like Jake and have little ears.  They shake their head and cause a hematoma to occur under the skin of the ear forming a big, painful pillow of blood to form.  So, he had to have surgery to remove the hematoma.  The thing took forever to heal, since it's basically a huge pocket of blood.  They have to leave it open a little to weep, so he had the cone on his head for about 3 weeks.  We all had quite a few bruises on our legs and missing paint on the walls from the cone.  Finally it was all healed.  Unfortunately last week I heard him shake his head again and I just knew that wasn't a good sign!  Sure enough he had one on his other ear!!  He had surgery again yesterday and now looks exactly like the above picture again.  We're hoping - for his sake and ours - that these will be permanent fixes!
Ben had a really fun birthday at a horse ranch a few weeks ago!  One of the boys in his preschool class invited him and all the kids had a blast feeding and riding the horses.  Here are a few pictures from the day.

Ben rode the horses at least 5 times, he loved it!  It was such a fun, unusual birthday party, I'm so glad we were able to go!
