Elizabeth's Field Day

Elizabeth had field day last week. It's different then the field days that we used to have (no more 50 yard dash!) - they all just traveled together to rotate through activities. They had a great time.

Elizabeth is at the dance station.

This was a favorite station of the class!Whoo hoo!!

This was water in a cup relay station.

This was the cutest - tug of war!

Trash talking already! ;)

They just look so big doing this!!

I was glad I was able to go for a little bit - I had my niece and nephew with me so all of us had a great time watching all the activities.

What a fun day!

Unwanted Visitor

The kids and I came home from school last week and this is who I found at the front door!

Luckily, we had some nice neighbors who came to our rescue, so the visitor is now gone.
Thank goodness!

Dyeing Easter Eggs

My SIL Victoria invited us over to her house the Saturday before Easter to dye Easter eggs. We had so many eggs and got through them so fast.
We had a good time, though, without too much of a mess.

One of our favorite traditions, and made even more fun with our cousins!

Easter

I guess this is better late than never! On Easter Sunday we woke up early and the kids searched for their Easter basket and eggs. My kids are not the best searchers for eggs - they give up very quickly!
They eventually found all the eggs and had some candy right before church.

After church we went to my parent's house for Easter brunch and searching for more eggs.

A good one!

Cuties on Easter morning!

So the kids headed off (in a confused manner it looks like -Ben :) to start searching for eggs.

After finding all the eggs we had a great time with confetti eggs!

We each got a dozen eggs to use on each other - it was my favorite part of the day!

The cute 4 some covered in confetti!

After Grandma and Grandpa B's house we headed to Grandma and Grandpa H's house.

We spent most of the time in the pool, but the kids took a quick break to search for eggs.

There's nothing like searching for eggs in bathing suits!
It was a great Easter!

First Daisy Scout Field Trip

For our first official Daisy Scout field trip we went to a local girl scout event at a nature center.
Almost all of the girls were able to come, and they all had a great time. One little girl ended up stepping on a nail the day before the event, so she wasn't up to hiking through a nature center!

We arrived a little early so after checking in we had plenty of time for some group shots around the area.

This was an Earth Day Celebration so the girls visited 10 different stations, each station dealing with a different Earth Day type of activity. The first station wasn't quite ready for the girls so they got to kill time with bubbles - always a hit.

At this station the girls learned all about birds from around the area. Elizabeth is being one of the types of birds, showing how they eat.

They also used binoculars to search for some birds. They saw a bright red cardinal up close!

We had a pretty far hike between each of the activities.

This was the only male volunteer, he was great! He joked around with the girls and made his information about the food chain very interesting.

So serious working on her food chain puzzle.

This station was probably the most interesting for the girls, there were live insects involved!

These are all bugs found in the local pond on site. This bug was (I think) in the beginning stages in the life cycle of a dragonfly. (maybe Sharon could correct me if I am wrong!)

Last the girls got to learn about square foot gardening and then planted a bean in a baggie to take home and transfer to a garden area. We were very interested in this station since we started our very own vegetable garden at home!

It was a long event, almost 6 hours, and all of the girls did so well. We were very proud of them for lasting so long!
