Rainbow Colors and Doll Necklace

I did a fun (and easy!) activity with the kids that I thought I would share. We are teaching Ben his colors (he can't seem to keep a couple of them straight) so we used colored water to help us do that. I put out 6 clear glasses. The first glass we had red water. Second glass empty. Third glass yellow water. Fourth glass empty. Fifth glass blue water. Last glass empty.

It's the whole color mixing thing. We took the red water and yellow water and poured some into the empty glass between the two to make orange water. We did the same with yellow and blue making green, and blue and red making purple. The kids loved it and all wanted to try it for themselves. We're going to do it again when it is warmer outside and we can let them experiment for themselves with medicine droppers or something. Anything with colored water is a treat! :)

I also found this idea on a great crafting blog here. If you go to the link it will show you step by step how to make these dolls. It was very easy and Elizabeth is loving to wear hers. I thought they would make great add-ons to girl gifts. So if you have a girl, close your eyes! You might be getting one :) (please ignore the stain on her shirt :)
Ben wanted one too, but he refuses to wear it around his neck. So he just carries is around. I am thinking of how to paint the dolls to make them look like firemen, doctors, policemen, etc... Not that Ben can't have a girl doll, but I know he would also like the others, so would Elizabeth for that matter! If I come up with something I'll post it. But for about 4$ I made all those dolls - not too bad!

Our Soccer Star!

Elizabeth wanted to play soccer this year (to her dad's delight) and we had our first practice on Tuesday. We missed the team's first practice because E was sick. Here she is, running after her ball.
Stretching - how old are they?! I just keep thinking of Elizabeth as my little girl, but she's getting so big! On her first sports team, wow!

Running fast down the field. She had so much fun. We were supposed to have our first game this weekend but we've had lots of rain, so it won't be until next weekend. I hope she continues to like soccer so much!

Monday Playgroup and Tuesday at the Zoo

We had playgroup at our house this week. We had fun playing out front of our house for a while -the weather was so nice so we played bubbles, rode bikes, and colored with chalk.

This is Baylee, a new big sister in our group. She just had a baby sister about 2 weeks ago.

This is Robin and her boys - one of the moms in our group. On Tuesday it was zoo walk day. The parents are invited to join the kids on their walk through the zoo. I never get good pictures of the kids at the zoo - I'm not sure why. I guess cause they are so busy looking at the animals and I can never get the kids and the animals together in a picture...so I got pictures of the animals instead. I wanted a picture of the baby lions. 2 of them are wrestling together. We saw them when they were first born and were so small! Now they are getting pretty big.
I don't know if you can see it but there is a meerkat running on a rock in the back of the habitat. That is the animal of the week for Elizabeth this week.

Elizabeth's Dress

I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby and decided to try to make a dress out of it. It's already gathered at the top, so all I needed to do was sew it down the back (theoretically).

The pictures are a different story. I wanted to take a picture of E in her dress and this is what I got.

Hello - where are you Elizabeth?

Finally she turned around. The dress was a lot harder than I thought it would be for me. I had to add another layer underneath it because it was a little short and see through. And, I realized, I'm just not that great at measuring and making sure everything is even (like on all the hems). Oh well, I got it done, and I think it turned out alright! I have one more type of fabric like this so I hope I am able to do it again!

Cooper's Birthday and Fun at the Park

Cooper had his second birthday last weekend. Unfortunately I guess I was too busy holding Ben so I really didn't get to take too many pictures...so here's the cute birthday boy. We had a lot of fun with all the kids at the party - I guess you'll have to take my word for it since I don't have any pictures :).

On Friday Elizabeth was finally starting to feel better so we went to the park with some friends.

The kids like trying out different parks rather than the one right up the streeet. This one was fun because it had a giant sandbox,


And a bridge that went over a stream with ducks in it. The kids had so much fun feeding them.

We tried really hard to get a picture of all the kids together. It finally almost worked (one is missing in the group). It seems like spring is here in Texas. We'll see if it is here to stay yet!

Bubbles and Chalk

Still trying to recooperate with Elizabeth we decided to just take it easy and play with bubbles and chalk in the driveway. Ben loves his bubble gun.

Elizabeth does too.

He sat here for about 15 minutes just redipping his bubbles over and over again. It got so slippery on our driveway, it was like an ice skating rink. We're finally feeling a little better over here so we actually met some friends at a park today. I'll have to post those tomorrow!

Blast from the Past

So we've done nothing much these past 2 days except hang out, color, watch some shows, read some books, etc... Elizabeth is getting much better, but I didn't have much to post so I thought I'd post some pics of the kids when they were little. Here's Elizabeth and Ben - I think E is about 2 years old and Ben is about 3 months.

Ben at about 1 month? I think? He doesn't look at all like himself here (in my opinion)

Elizabeth - maybe 4 months old? I could go back and check all these dates, but I'll just guess. I'm too lazy!
Ben at about 1 month old - again - I think he has changed so much!
Elizabeth - maybe 4 or 5 months old. She looks like she has blue eyes, doesn't she? Now they are hazel.

I'm sure you can guess who is here with Ben, it's Cooper. Aren't they so cute and little?!

Such a happy baby! Maybe we'll have something to post tomorrow...we'll see!

Bike Riding and Necklace Making

Elizabeth woke up feeling much better today so we decided to get out of our germ filled house to ride bikes. Unfortunately this caused Elizabeth to start coughing, so we decided to pack it up and go inside. She decided she wanted to have the training wheels taken off her bike, tried it for a few minutes, and decided they should go back on.
Ben got this new bike from cousin Josh (he is riding a new bike without training wheels!!) so we decided it was time for him to learn to ride. He had a difficult time getting the pedals to keep moving. I guess we need to practice!

While hanging out on the couch yesterday and today we made bead necklaces.

What's with that face?! Crazy!! :)
